Aid to Dependent Children (ADC)
What is Aid to Dependent Children (ADC)?
Aid to Dependent Children (ADC) is a Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) cash assistance program for low income families with children. ADC is funded by the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program. As with any DHHS application, we need to gather:
- Immigration information
- Financial income information for all people in the household
Who Qualifies?
As with most DHHS programs, families will be expected to cooperate with Child Support Enforcement. If the parents are divorced or separated, only the parent who has the children over 50% of the time are able to qualify. There are also work requirements for all adults able to work.
If approved for ADC, families receive up to 60 months of cash assistance in the lifetime.
*The 60 month limit does not apply to families with a disabled parent, where the adults are not the parents of the children, or otherwise unable to work.
