Sarah Grady, PA-C
From a young age, Sarah Grady, PA-C, Physician Assistant, has had a desire to help people. In college, she had several opportunities to shadow providers and it was then that she decided to become a physician assistant. Sarah attended the University of Nebraska Medical Center where she earned her Physician Assistant Studies degree in 2002. Following her graduation, she joined the North Lincoln Family Medical Center, now known as Bluestem Health Kreshel Clinic.
Bio
Sarah describes her work day as being different and unpredictable. While many routine things are similar, some days are slow while others are crazy. She sees patients of all ages, providing services from annual physicals and preventive health check-ups to acute conditions, such as colds, flu, and well-child checks. “I like to see my own patients because I feel it is important to have that continuity of care with them,” Sarah said. “Especially for patients with health challenges, consistently being treated by the same provider develops a level of comfort with them.”
As a family medicine provider, Sarah knows from experience that many times she’s had to be persistent at finding the root of a patient’s pain or illness which can sometimes require coordinating care with several specialists. “It’s so important for me to remain involved in a patient’s care after I’ve referred them on to a specialty physician,” Sarah added.”It goes back to that continuity of care.” Sarah also noted that working together with her colleagues at the clinic allows them to share knowledge. “The people I work with are great. We’re one big family.”
Working as part of the Bluestem Health team, Sarah feels there are many needed services that are made available to all patients in addition to family medicine, such as behavioral health and diabetic education. “I like that with all of the Bluestem Health locations, we can get a patient scheduled that same day,” Sarah remarked.
Sarah grew up in Omaha, Nebraska. She is married with four children. She loves spending time with her family. They are very involved in attending their children’s athletic and dance activities. As a family, they also enjoy going for walks and traveling to places like Disney World.
Sarah’s advice to her patients: “Get your annual check-up and preventive exams. They can save your life!”
